During the unveiling of the iPhone 5 there was a lot of bragging from about the smartphone’s improved video stabilization. However, the predecessor iPhone 4S actually had a great video stabilization so there are concerns whether the new iPhone 5 will top that.
A test was done to determine which iPhone will have the best video stabilization. The test actually involves strapping the two devices on a stand so they both face the same type and amount of shakes.
Based from the test, the iPhone 5 has a wider viewing angle than the predecessor when it comes to recording videos. This will allow the users to fit more aspects in the frame. However, there are fewer pixels to describe each part of it.
The results reveal that the iPhone 5 actually produces steadier videos with the camera movement smoother with a very pleasing result. However, the iPhone 4S actually captures videos in a finer detail. For instance, it’s easier to read the signs and the video is actually sharper compared to the iPhone5.
Note that, both iPhone 5 and 4S utilize a digital video stabilization and not an optical one like that of the PureView 8MP snapper of the Nokia Lumia 920.
